Terms of Service
The agreement between you and ResumeHeatMap.
Last updated 5 August 2026
What the service does
ResumeHeatMap analyses a resume you upload and estimates where a recruiter's attention is likely to fall, based on published eye-tracking research. It also scores the resume against a job description you supply and suggests rewrites.
What it is not
This is the important part, so it is not in small print:
- The heat map is a model, not a measurement. We do not track a real recruiter's eyes looking at your resume. We estimate likely attention from general research findings applied to your document's structure.
- The research it draws on is contested. We say so plainly on our research page, including the limitations of the widely-quoted 7.4-second figure.
- We do not guarantee interviews, callbacks, or offers. No resume tool can. Hiring outcomes depend on factors far outside your document.
- The ATS score is an approximation. We do not have access to any employer's actual applicant tracking system, and different systems parse differently.
- This is not career, legal, or employment advice. Use your judgement.
Your responsibilities
- Upload only a resume you own or have permission to submit. Do not upload someone else's resume without their consent.
- Do not upload anything unlawful, or content you do not have the right to share.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the service, scrape it at scale, or work around its limits.
- You are responsible for reviewing anything the tool generates before you use it. AI-generated rewrites can be wrong, and a rewrite that overstates your experience is your risk to catch.
Payment and refunds
The basic analysis is free. Some reports and features are paid, one time, at the price shown at checkout. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments as merchant of record; their terms apply to the transaction itself.
If a paid report fails to generate, or the output is plainly broken, email us and we will refund you. Ask within 14 days of purchase.
Your content and ours
Your resume stays yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the analysis, store the result so you can return to it, and deliver it to you — as described in our Privacy Policy.
The site, the analysis engine, and the written output we generate remain ours. You are free to use the output for your own job search.
Availability
We do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, and we may need to take the site down for maintenance.
Limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost job opportunities or lost earnings. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your data. We may suspend access if these terms are breached.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email to anyone who has given us an address, and the date at the top will move.
